Book Excerpt:

“Wes, it’s not your fault.” She struggled to convince him. “But I can’t marry your son. I have feelings for you and I can’t ignore them. I don’t want to.” She stepped toward him, praying he didn’t push her away.

He didn’t move, just stood there stone-faced.

“Don’t tell me you don’t feel it too.” She gazed at his chiseled face, his strong jaw, the flicker of gold in his eyes making her melt inside as they turned tender.

“Chloe,” he said softly. “What am I going to do with you?”

“You feel it too, don’t you?” She narrowed the space between them until she could feel the heat off his body and the thrum of his pulse.

“Fuck,” he cursed as he looked down at his cowboy boots and then slowly back up at her. He shook his head as if in defeat and pulled her to him. He pressed her body hard against his, jarring her with the impact, but loving the strength in his embrace.

His lips met hers and he kissed her, hard and demanding. “Chloe,” he murmured, wrapping his arms tightly around her and making her body hum with desire. “Yes, I feel it too.” One hand smoothed the hair from her face, the other cupped her ass firmly as he pulled her harder to him and parted her waiting lips with his tongue.

She welcomed his tongue eagerly as she grabbed his broad shoulders, running her hands along his strong back, feeling the muscles ripple under her fingers as he moved her across the room while kissing her.

The backs of her legs met the edge of the couch as he hovered over her, pushing her down as he kissed her lips hungrily, then down her neck, trailing his lips along her décolleté. It was if he was going to devour her and she ached for it.

My Book Review:

What's a bride to do when she's a week away from her wedding and she's having second thoughts? Oh and add in one sexy father-in-law-to-be and it's no wonder that this bride comes undone!

In Bride Undone, author Kate Deveaux weaves a naughty but oh so nice contemporary erotic romance story about a bride who has second thoughts about marrying her fiance just days away from their wedding, and things get even more complicated when the bride falls for her soon to be sexy father-in-law!

Chloe Dobson is a week away from marrying Conner Michaels, but for the past month she has been having second thoughts. She has been crashing strangers weddings looking for signs of what true love looks like when the bride and groom meet at the altar and they look into each others eyes. Chloe thinks that Conner is a great guy, solid, dependable, and thoughtful, and that she is lucky to have found him, but their sex life is just okay and she is unable to have an orgasm. Chloe's doubts become a reality when she meets Conner's father Wes, a sexy Texan, and she finds herself attracted to him to the point that she even fantasizes about him! All hell breaks loose when Chloe cancels the wedding and pursues her attraction for Wes. So what's a bride to do when she comes undone and wants to follow her heart's desire?

Author Kate Deveaux weaves a sexy tale of forbidden attraction that will simply knock your socks off! Set in San Diego and the tropical Caribbean British Virgin Islands, the reader is easily drawn into Chloe and Wes' steamy love story that has a little bit of angst and drama thrown into the mix.

The reader is transported to the tropical Caribbean BVI setting with richly vivid descriptions that makes you want to escape to the island paradise. The steamy sex scenes aboard Wes' yacht "My Way" was smoking hot and very decadent.  The author has a very vivid imagination and a way of creating a real scorcher that will leave you fanning yourself!

If you are looking for a quick summer escape into a sensual and intensely erotic romance novel, than Bride Undone is a must read!

Book Description:

At the age of forty-four, Blaise Blankenship believes her own opportunity for romance has long since passed until she accidentally lands in the lap of a sexy stranger. She and the handsome Latino connect over an afternoon at a local bookstore, sharing their love of erotica. Blaise is swept away by an impetuous, hot, "no last names" night together. But the morning after reveals a truth she can't ignore—or avoid.

Book Excerpt:

His gaze roamed the stacks. "Interesting place. I enjoy book shops, but I've never been here before."

"It's one of my favorite spots. I love to come and browse, just sit and read."

"I read so much for my job, I've gotten out of the habit of reading for enjoyment. I miss it." He pulled a book from the shelf and showed her the spine. Lady Chatterley's Lover. "This is one of my favorites."

Suddenly, it became difficult to breathe. "Yes." She forced the word through her constricted throat. "That's an amazing novel." Constance Chatterley could only find sexual fulfillment with gamekeeper Oliver Mellors. This man, whoever he was, would make a perfect Mellors.

And she would be Lady Chatterley?

As he stood holding the D.H. Lawrence volume, Blaise imagined his large hands stroking her, caressing her body. She quivered, her panties moistening.

Look away, look away!

Quickly, she redirected her gaze to his face. His lips quirked in a little smile. Oh, God, had he guessed where her thoughts had wandered? "Umm, I take the bus all the time, but I don't think I've ever seen you before."

He nodded. "I usually drive to work and back, but my car's in the shop and I couldn't catch a ride with anyone, so…" He extended his hand. "I'm Guy, by the way."

"Hi, I'm Blaise." When they shook hands, she again flashed to the image of him touching her in more intimate ways.

He replaced Lady Chatterley on the shelf. "I didn't mean to interrupt your reading." He nodded at her book. "Cupid's Delight. I'm not familiar with that one. Any good?"

Blood rushed to her cheeks. Oh Blaise, don't be a baby. She cleared her throat, flustered by the feelings this man brought out in her. "Too early to tell. I haven't started it."

"It sounds intriguing, doesn't it?" His gaze held hers and excitement fizzed through her.

She swallowed hard and nodded. "I think so, too."

With a tilt of his head, Guy indicated the red velvet loveseat wedged into the corner. "Maybe we could sit, read it together."

Her breath hitched, and her heart thumped so hard she'd have been surprised if he couldn't see her blouse flutter. Had this man actually asked to read erotica with her? Yes.

And was she going to agree? Yes!

The Wilde One by Savannah Young (Author Interview / Book Review / Contest Giveaway)

In association with Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours, Jersey Girl Sizzling Book Reviews is pleased to host the virtual book tour event for The Wilde One by Author Savannah Young!

Author Interview

Hi Savannah! Welcome back to Jersey Girl Sizzling Book Reviews!

How long have you been a writer?

I learned to read when I was about four years old and started writing soon after that!

Do you have a day job, or is being an author your career?

I work as a university professor in addition to being a writer.

What inspired you to become a writer? Describe your journey as a writer.

I've always known I wanted to be a writer and I've been writing my entire life. In addition to being a novelist, I'm also a biographer, non-fiction writer, produced playwright and award-winning/optioned screenwriter.

Please give a brief description/storyline about The Wilde One.

The Wilde One is the second novel in the spicy contemporary romance series about four sexy brothers, their small-town bar and their local country band. Each novel in the Old Town Country Romance series can be read as a stand alone novel or as part of the series.

Tucker Wilde joined the United States Army right out of high school and was injured in Iraq. But more than just his leg was shattered in the Middle East. The war also crushed his spirit and damaged his soul. When a strange couple arrives at his family’s bar, Haymakers, Tucker can see signs of mental and emotional abuse and is immediately drawn to the lovely but fragile girl seated at his bar.

Gracie Parker has been a victim of abuse her entire life. When her boyfriend, Dex, beats her in the parking lot of Haymakers and abandons her, it’s almost too much for the nineteen-year-old to bear. That is until Tucker appears like a warrior knight from the darkness to save her.

Tucker and Gracie are two broken people who are immediately drawn together. But their relationship and even their very lives are threatened by Dex who will stop at nothing to get Gracie back.

What was the inspiration for this story and the series?

I grew up in northwest New Jersey in a place very similar to the fictional Old Town that's featured in the Old Town Country Romance series. When I started thinking about writing the series, I knew I wanted it to take place in rural New Jersey. I didn't want to write about sexy billionaires or bad-boy rock stars. I wanted to write realistic stories about four sexy brothers from a small town who hang out at the local bar on Friday nights and play country music. They are regular guys who drive Pickups and work hard for a living. Book Two features Tucker who was injured by physically and emotionally when he served in Iraq. I thought it was important to show the life of a young man who served his country and the aftermath of his service.

How did it feel to have your first book published?

Now that I've got 25 books out it's hard to even remember what it was like when I published the first one!

Do you write books for a specific genre?

I've written in a lot of different genres but for the past year and a half I've focused only on romance novels.

What genres are your favorite(s)? What are some of your favorite books that you have read and why?

I enjoy reading romance as well as mystery/suspense. Three of my favorite books are the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. I just love the main character, Lizbeth Salander. She's a kick-butt heroine!

Do you have a special spot/area where you like to do your writing?

In bed.

How do you come up with the ideas that become the storyline for your books?

They usually come to me in dreams.

When you write, do you adhere to a strict work schedule, or do you work whenever the inspiration strikes?

I write every morning without fail. I even write on Christmas morning! I try to get out at least 1500 words every day before I go to work. Most days I write a lot more.

What aspects of storytelling do you like the best, and what aspects do you struggle with the most?

The only aspect I struggle with is not having enough time to write everything I want to write! It's difficult because I have a demanding full-time job.

I like coming up with the main character and their names. Once I've got that the stories seem to come together quickly for me.

What are your favorite things to do when you are not writing?

Read or watch movies. When I'm not creating stories I am consumer of other people's stories.

What is/was the best piece of writing advice that you have received?

Don't be afraid to write crap. You can always fix it later. It's very freeing not worrying whether your writing will be perfect when you first put words to the paper.

What is the most gratifying thing you feel or get as a writer?

I like when readers know the characters and stories as well (and sometimes even better) than I do.

How do you usually communicate with your readers/fans?

A lot of readers like to communicate via Facebook.

Is there anything in your book based on real life experiences or are they purely all from your imagination?

As I mentioned, Old Town is based on the place where I grew up in New Jersey. I also did research on PTSD, particularly with men returning from Iraq. The way in which Tucker was injured is based on an actual bombing that took place.

What authors have been your inspiration or influenced you to become a writer?

I've always know I wanted to write but I didn't consider writing romance until I read Slammed by Colleen Hoover and Easy by Tammara Webber.

What is your definition of success as a writer?

I think if a writer completes the book (or play or screenplay) he or she is working on, it's a success. Many people write and never even complete one project. Of course, there's also the business of publishing and that's a completely different matter entirely.

Are you currently writing a new book? If yes, would you care to share a bit of it with us?

The Wilde One is the second book in the Old Town Country Romance series. There are still two more brothers who need books! A Wilde Night, Hunter’s Story, and Wilde Times, Jake’s Story, will be out this summer.

Book Excerpt:

One

Tucker

“You look different,” Savage says, then downs the last of his pint of ale.

“Different how?” I prod even though I have an idea what he’s going to say. I look more normal. Like I fit into society rather than looking like an outcast.

Savage shrugs. He’s never been a person of many words. We’re like two peas in a pod that way. Even though he rarely says very much, with just one sideways glance Savage can have the biggest and meanest guys on the planet shaking in their cowboy boots.

People say that about me too.

“Do you want another?” I ask, even though I can guess his response. Savage always orders two pints and drinks them at the far corner of the bar. There are worse ways of coping with the past than drinking a few beers every night before he goes home to an empty apartment. I should know. I’m a master of poor coping skills.

“Hit me,” Savage says.

I pour him another pint and take away the empty.

“You look good.”

I’m surprised by the compliment. I’d never use the word good to describe anything about me. But I do look better than I have since I got back from Iraq.
“Drink your beer,” I tell him because I’m not in the mood to explain what’s been going on in my life.

Savage was in Iraq about the same time I was and he’s the closest thing I’ve got to a friend. I’m not one for relationships. Life is too short and relationships are too painful. When you get close to someone, you usually just end up getting hurt.

But like me, Savage isn’t the type of guy who gets too close to people. The most obvious reason is the way he looks: he’s big and scary. Also just like me.

Savage and I lift weights together, and in a fight it would be a close match. Not that either of us would ever start a fight but we would definitely end one if we had to.

It’s a weeknight and the bar is almost deserted except for a few of the regulars. That’s why I’m surprised when I see a couple I don’t recognize walk in and look around. The guy’s wearing all leather and carrying two helmets, so he’s obviously a biker. He looks about my height, six feet two inches and he’s big. The girl looks tiny standing next to him. She’s the definition of the word waif. She looks like a strong wind could pick her up and blow her away. Not a good thing in Old Town where it’s windy most of the time.

The most interesting thing about her, though, is her coloring. I’ve never seen someone so fair in my life. I’m the only blond in my family but I’m not even close to this girl. Her long hair is so light it’s practically white. And her skin is the color of milk. She looks like a princess who just stepped out of a fairytale, as corny as that sounds.

I can’t help but notice that she doesn’t look like she wants to be here. Or maybe she doesn’t want to be with the guy. It’s hard to tell. But she doesn’t look happy. If anything, she looks scared.

As the couple steps closer to the bar, I can see the girl is shaking. I’m not sure whether she’s shaking because she’s scared, or because it’s January and it’s freezing outside and she’s wearing a tiny spring jacket that barely fits. It almost looks like a jacket for a kid it’s so small on her. Not that she’s much bigger than a kid herself.

What kind of an asshole wears a thick leather jacket while he lets his girl freeze? I’m really not liking this guy at all. And when I see him grab her by the elbow, so roughly she almost comes off the floor, I can feel every hair on my body stand at attention.

Is it possible to hate a guy I don’t even know?

My Book Review:

Welcome back to rural Old Town, NJ, home of loud trucks, cold beer, country music, and the hot Wilde brothers!

In each book of the Old Town Country Romance series, Author Savannah Young weaves an entertaining romantic tale that tells the story of each of the four Wilde brothers: Cooper, Jake, Tucker, and Hunter.

In The Wilde One, Author Savannah Young once again calls upon her NJ roots as the reader is transported back to the small rural town of Old Town, NJ, where this time the focus is on Tucker and Gracie's story. Told in the first person narrative, the reader follows Tucker and Gracie as their heartwarming and emotional romance unfolds like a classic country song.

Tucker has come home from Iraq as a broken and wounded veteran, a shadow of the fun loving Wilde brother that he used to be.

Nineteen year old Gracie Parker has been a victim of abuse her whole life, and the vicious circle of abuse continues in the hands of Dex, her biker boyfriend.

When Tucker discovers Gracie being beat by Dex in the parking lot of his family's bar, Haymakers, he dons his warrior white knight armor and rescues her. Can two broken people find solace and love in each other's arms, or will a dangerous threat from an abusive ex-boyfriend stand in their way?

I absolutely loved reading Tucker and Gracie's touching story. You can't help but get drawn into their lives, and embrace the beauty of how two broken people's relationship slowly develops with emotional healing and love. I loved the protective instinct that Tucker has towards Gracie, his kind and tender heart simply made me smile. This story is so much more emotionally intense and dramatic than the first book in the series, I loved that the author delved into the dark social issues, pain, and loss that wounded warriors and abuse victims face in their lives. Tucker and Gracie's story is about two people who learn to let go of their painful pasts, find the courage to open up their hearts to trust and love, and discover the self-confidence that is within themselves. Not only are Tucker and Gracie perfect for each other, they complete and make each other whole again! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the brotherly bond, support, and antics of the other three charming Wilde brothers that is once again interwoven in the storyline like it was in the first book.

The Wilde One is an emotional romantic tale that has a fun cast of characters, witty and humorous banter, drama, and a sweet and spicy romance set to a country theme.

Invitation by Christina Hoffman (Author Guest Post / Book Review / Contest Giveaway)

In association with Pump Up Your Book! Virtual Book Tours, Jersey Girl Sizzling Book Reviews is pleased to host the virtual book tour event for Invitation by Author Christina Hoffman!

Author Guest Post

Hello Beloved Readers!

I am Christina Hoffman.

I was born in England and later hop-scotched across the globe (or, rather, I was exposed to multiple wonderful cultures and adventures!) with my family until we finally settled in the United States.

I have put my suitcase down, for now at least, in blissful San Francisco.

If that wasn't good fortune enough, I am finally making my dream of writing meaningful romances come true. I love sexy stories with heart, relationships that are sweet and insanely erotic. Enough with the chains and the degradation. I need some romance in my Romance!

I have known so many intelligent and driven men and women who have felt they could be smart OR sexy. Seriously, my when my best girlfriend, who is gorgeous, was in medical school, the women were beautiful. But they didn't know it. Or they suspected they might be, and worked extra hard to cover it up. They had to take on the role of serious grown-up, and acting like sensual beings was practically a career ender.

Okay, well, we can't change the world overnight! But after-hours, we can do what we like with our minds AND our bodies. Why not have some amazing adventures? That's what I write about in my books, and I hope you'll see yourselves in my heroines or my heroes, and know that you, too, are allowed to feel amazing.

Welcome to the world of smart and sexy. I'm so glad you're here!!

She's starting a mini-revolution. She writes sexy stories, but hasn't lost the romance from her Romances. Enough with whips -- back to lips!

She hopes you enjoy her stories and see yourself in her characters. After all, they are based on smart and sexy people, just like you.

Madison Spencer is a serious medical student, focused only on work and hiding her beauty and her once-passionate spirit behind a quiet plain-Jane facade. Since she was drugged, stripped, assaulted and photographed by a vengeful ex, she has stayed away from men and kept her heart and body safe.

But when heart-stoppingly gorgeous Dr. Liam Mason walks into her world, she knows she's in trouble. After finding out about her devastating past, Liam offers to bring her back to life with physical passion. Madison thinks she should be repelled, but she's intrigued and can't turn him away. Together they explore days and nights of pleasure, and slowly develop into something more than bedmates.

Deep inside they each wonder if they've found their perfect match. But with Liam's fear of being dragged down by commitment, and Madison's fear of being hurt by another man threatening to destroy the world they’ve built together, will they each be strong enough and brave enough to risk their hearts to have it all?

Book Excerpt:

I can't even blame it on the booze. There wasn't any, or at least there wasn't any for me. I was with Chloe, my bodyguard. Okay, actually she was my friend, but a really overprotective friend who knew all about what I’d been through and wanted to make sure it never happened again. So, no alcohol.

But, what she and I hadn't counted on was him being there. There I was, minding my own business, putting in my time at the Med School Social, more than ready to head home for some studying, then Chinese food and a movie. And suddenly, him.

I was inhaling when I caught sight of him, but my breath just stopped. It felt like being punched in the chest. I kept telling myself, look away, look away! But it was impossible. I was paralyzed. His beautiful face and magnificent body were magnets, and my eyes were locked on them.

I hadn't felt this kind of physical attraction since, well, ever. I had never felt like that. I had stayed away from men for two years. I was pretty much terrified of them, to tell the truth. But there he was. Unavoidable and irresistible.

I saw him in profile. Oh, that hair. Thick, almost curly, falling into his eyes. The kind of hair you need to gently push off of his face right before you kiss him. Or, the kind of hair you grab really hard right before you're about to...

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. The point I'm trying to make is that my mind very clearly recognized all the dangers ahead and was saying, “Turn around, go, get out of here! Before it's too late.” But then he turned around to look right at me. It was already too late.

We held each other's gaze a second longer than politeness required. Something inside me went click, and for the first time in almost two years, I felt young and alive, and really, really turned on. Every part of me suddenly woke up, and all the best parts started to tingle. I was breathing harder. My lips parted slightly, already begging to be kissed.

It was a little overwhelming. I was out of practice. No, actually, I had never had the kind of practice you would need to stay controlled in a situation like that. I think maybe you can have a soul mate for your mind, and also one for your body. And my body was saying “Get me over there right now!”

But I was still too afraid. I smiled a little and turned away.

I had to stay for a while, to look sociable, so I went over to the food table and stared at the snacks, which were already stale. Nothing looked very good, and my throat was too tight to eat anyway.

I was starting to formulate a plan for escaping without the other students or the teachers noticing when I felt the air move behind me, the softest caress against my bare shoulders. Then, a hand on my back, an electric shock to my body, wildly pleasurable. I gasped and spun around. Right into the arms of...

“I'm Liam.”

Liam. Right into the arms of Liam. Oh, he was even more beautiful up close. My hand rose all on its own to push that wonderful floppy hair from his face. I stopped suddenly, embarrassed, but he caught my wrist, and held my palm gently to his face. We looked at each other and knew.

“Wanna get out of here?” he asked, and of course, foolish, foolish woman that I am, I said, “Yes.”

I saw him my first day at the new hospital. I'm a medical student and had just finished the lecture part of things where we sit around learning about chemical reactions and body parts. That was over, at last, and we were moving on to seeing real live patients in the hospital.

The orientation was step one in getting us ready for our new roles. We each got a short lab coat and a tour of the locker rooms. We received our ID tag photos.

I'm not sure why I first noticed Liam.

Since the bad thing happened, I keep my head down and make eye contact with pretty much nobody. I wear my hair in a tight bun at the nape of my neck and my clothes are dull and loose. On that particular day, I was trying very hard to concentrate. I was excited to be starting work in the hospital, but I was mostly terrified. There was so much to take in and remember. My head was reeling after only two hours. The last thing on my mind was men. So, who knows why I took that second look as he walked by our group.

Well, actually I do know why. He was gorgeous. Ridiculously gorgeous. Dark wavy hair, just slightly overgrown so he looked like a happy surfer who'd tumbled out of bed. Smiling eyes. Sparkling, mischievous, movie star eyes. A little bit of stubble, likely because he had been on call all night. The rest of him looked pretty much immaculate. He wore light wool pants and a sky blue shirt. No tie, but the white lab coat made him look professional enough.

I was dedicated to maintaining my nun-like lifestyle, but, seriously, it was impossible not to look at him. Even Chloe noticed him. She looked at him, then at me. She shook her head lightly and whispered, “No”. I laughed a little because she sounded like a mom telling a toddler that she couldn't have any candy. Well, that was pretty much what was happening, so I guess Chloe nailed that.

She was absolutely right. I didn't want any trouble. Certainly not that awful, frightening feeling of falling in love. No time-consuming romance. And certainly not all the time I had lost trying to recover from the trauma of what had happened before. Even a plain old tiny heartbreak could set me back, and put me way off course in my career.

No, I didn't have the time or energy for any distractions. Nothing. Just work and school.

So I ignored the stunning resident with the black hair, and tried to focus on the tall blond giving us the orientation spiel. This was much easier because I felt no attraction to him at all. He was really handsome, too. But something about him seemed mean. Or maybe arrogant. It's hard to remember what I thought of him that first time, because the memory is so clouded with all that came after. I'll just say he was a tall, slim blond who should have caught my eye, but didn’t.

My Book Review:

In her debut novel, Invitation, author Christina Hoffman weaves a sweet and sassy love story about two ordinary people dealing with real life issues, who meet and are attracted to each other. What starts out as a lighthearted relationship based on fun and no commitments, slowly becomes something more. But painful past baggage, fear of commitment, and lack of trust stands in the way ... can they be strong enough to risk their hearts and take a chance on love?

Madison Spencer is a medical student with a painful past that took away her passion and spirit, causing her to live a lonely life behind the facade of a plain Jane, solely focused only on her medical career.

Dr. Liam Mason is dedicated to his medical career, he isn't looking for love, he prefers lighthearted fun relationships without commitments.

When Madison and Liam meet there is instant attraction .. can a lighthearted, fun, and carefree relationship full of passion and pleasure turn into something more for two hesitant and relationship-commitment wary lovers?

Invitation is a wonderful love story full of romance, passion, fun, angst, pain, fear, and self-doubt. The reader is easy drawn into Madison and Liam's story. There is an emotional pull and depth to the storyline that the reader can easily relate to and embrace. What more could a reader ask for then to have two realistic and flawed characters on an emotional journey filled with passion and drama? The romance and real life issues are cleverly interwoven throughout the story, add in some very steamy but not overly done sex scenes that will make you blush and sigh, and what you get is a thoroughly enjoyable and classic love story.

Invitation is a beautifully written contemporary romance novel that is sure to leave a smile on your face.
